I think I started a great podcast collection by subscribing to the Rachel Maddow podcast. This being my first podcast experience, I was wary of watching a slow-loading, fuzzy video. Scratch that stereotype. I love podcasts now!
The clip was about thirteen minutes long but loaded in about thirty seconds. The video and audio quality was phenomenal. There was no noticeable difference between my computer screen and my TV screen.
Maddow’s show is a very relaxed, yet intelligent study of politics. This particular podcast showed lengthy clips from Brian William’s Nightly News interview with Sen. John McCain and Gov. Palin and then featured a discussion with Williams about the interview. While the show is clearly left-leaning, Maddow and Williams critiqued the Republicans from in a respectful and intelligent way, while cutting through the political nonsense to give viewers a fairly objective commentary.
I really enjoyed this podcast. The show itself was engaging and enjoyable and the podcast was not only quick-loading and high-quality but free. It’s almost too good to be true.
I think MSNBC is onto a great idea with these podcasts. After watching this brief clip, I’m already waiting to see more Maddow podcasts and may even tune into her TV show.
Here’s part of the Williams interview discussed in the podcast.

Rachel Maddow is becoming quite a hit with younger audiences.
“Maddow seems to have genuinely charmed younger viewers, a Twitter-savvy, podcasting generation that has hankered for someone more like them and delights in her use of “duh,” her obvious intelligence and authenticity, and her ability to be both idealistic and skeptical about politics.”
